New Special Issue Announced: “Artificial Intelligence in the Justice Sector”

The Journal of AI for Sustainable Development (JAISD) is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for a forthcoming special issue on Artificial Intelligence in the Justice Sector. This timely publication will explore how AI is reshaping legal systems, justice institutions, and the daily work of legal professionals around the world.

Edited by Catherine Régis (Full Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Montreal; Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy; Canada-CIFAR Chair in AI), alongside Jake Okechukwu Effoduh and Cristina Godoy Bernardo de Oliveira, the issue invites contributions addressing AI’s role in:

  1. Access to justice and procedural fairness
  2. Judicial efficiency and independence
  3. Case studies of AI implementation in courts and tribunals
  4. Ethical governance and accountability frameworks
  5. Collaborative models between AI developers and legal professionals

The editorial team encourages interdisciplinary and practice-based submissions from scholars, legal practitioners, technologists, and policymakers globally.

Key Dates:

  1. Abstract submissions open: May 6 – July 6, 2025
  2. Full manuscripts due: November 30, 2025
  3. Publication date: February 2026
